Integration by means of literacy within the project “Alpha 16+”
March 2007
It has been the second year now since the Project “ALPHA 16+ under the programme «Grundtvig 1» works with the objective of introduction and sustainability of measures for identifying key experts among marginalized groups with the aim of literacy.
Project partners of the consortium are institutions from Bulgaria, Great Britain, Germany, Lithuania, France and Hungary.
The focus as a main project target group are young people above 16 years old, whereby the accent has been put on the following objectives:
- Demolishing barriers to “the young adults” (between 16 and 25 years of age), which turn up as an obstacle for the improvement of the communication skills and literacy.
- Selection of consultants, who work and are in a direct contact with illiterates (employed at social services, labour offices, municipality administration, nongovernmental organizations).
- Training of consultants for identifying the illiterates with the aim of consulting them and mainstreaming them towards training programmes and literacy opportunities.
- Elaboration of a Working manual for the consultants
Within the framework of the project there has been conducted a one-day training for introduction and approbation of a training system for consultants, which to be used in combination with the elaborated manual, in which the literacy activity to be popularized and at the same time to be provided information about the causes and the effect of lacking key competencies, whereby strategies for identifying young people with such necessities to be identified as well as a methodology for action in similar cases. There is envisaged an organization of a three-day workshop for multiplying the good practices as well as the Manual.
The project “ALPHA 16+” was introduced at an international meeting in Vilnius, Lithuania as a good practice in the direction “from projects to political decisions”, where key messaged for the practical and sustainable development of the results, achieved within the project framework, have been defined.
