Thematic monitoring – education, labour market and employability in Minerva, Grundtvig and Lingua projects
07 - 10 June 2007, Bucharest, Romania
The final conference of the Thematic Monitoring Project took part in the project coordinator’s country – Romania. Project coordinators, representatives from National Agencies and from Ministries of Education and Labour and Social policy from the four project countries – Bulgaria, Lithuania, Portugal and Romania, gathered together to discuss the insufficient adaptation of education systems to the requirements of the labour market.

The conference had the aim to:
- To put various projects together and try to find those practices, results, models which can improve employability – on the part of learners – and a greater adaptability to social and professional demands – on the part of educational institutions and the educational system as a whole. The resources and expertise obtained in Socrates projects need to be made available to a larger community, including decision and policy makers in education and employment systems, in order to ensure dissemination, exploitation and transferability of results (valorization).

In plenary sessions and working groups more than 50 participants have presented good practices and have debated the following topics:
- Involving decision makers
- Networking between education and labour systems
- Impact indicators for employability
All the discussions, the created synergies along with the models of good practices that emerged will be collected in the final product of the project – a brochure containing all the outcomes – a list of models on how to improve employability of learners and adaptability of institutions; a list of suggestions to both educational institutions and decision makers, along with all the good practices of the Socrates projects gathered during the Thematic monitoring project.
