Thematic monitoring – education, labour market and employability in Socrates projects
12 - 15 April 2007, Vilnius, Lithuania

Two Grundtvig projects (Alpha 16+/Grundtvig 1 and Future Workshops for Europe/Grundtvig 2) of DVV- International-Sofia office were presented during the project meeting “Thematic monitoring – education, labour market and employability in Socrates projects” in Vilnius, Lithuania. The coordinators from the National agencies and the Socrates project coordinators had the opportunity to learn about their experience and to discuss with their colleagues from Bulgaria, Romania, Portugal and Lithuania, the benefits of the Socrates program both for the practitioners and decision makers.
The aim of the meeting was to contribute for developing a better match between education, training and employment, by creating space for discussion, exchange of information and transfer of experience between Socrates projects which touch on theme of employability and making them visible at the level of decision makers.
Some of the important questions that were raised during the discussions:
- Formal / Non-formal education and how to certify the non-formal activities, because of their value in obtaining social and professional skills;
- Models and levels of certification – attendance or validation;
- Paid and free of charge courses;
- Motivation and the right to chose a program as an indicator for higher level of learning;
- How to make the skills that the Socrates projects develop more visible, etc.
Part of the program was also focused on the dissemination and exploitation of the projects results – what was done up to now, what can be done for the future and how the decision makers can be involved, at what level and in what way.
